Apathy Records is run by Mikey Sawyer, a Denver heavy-music operator and the vocalist behind the project Miss Fortune.
Apathy started the way most honest businesses do: by doing the work first. Running Miss Fortune’s releases meant learning distribution, metadata, rights splits, playlist pitching, content operations, and royalty plumbing the hard way — release by release, mistake by mistake. The Release OS process is that education, systematized so other independent artists don’t have to pay the same tuition.
This isn’t a tech startup cosplaying as a label, and it isn’t a legacy label chasing relevance. It’s an operations company for heavy music — built by an artist, for artists who own their work.

The artist owns everything
Masters, rights, data, audience. We’re hired help for the release — never a partner you didn’t ask for, never a claim on your catalog.

Rights hygiene is the product
Most release disasters are paperwork disasters: bad splits, missing identifiers, undisclosed samples. We treat the boring parts as the job, because they are.

No artificial streaming. Ever.
Bots, click farms, and playlist payola poison catalogs and end careers. We don’t touch them, don’t recommend them, and end engagements over them.

Operations over hype
Calendars, checklists, QA, reporting. Unsexy work, done on time, is what separates a release from an upload.

Honest numbers or none
We report what happened in plain language. No vanity metrics, no projections dressed up as results, no screenshots without context.
